I was driving down the rode yesterday and I took off from the light a little hard but not all out, when I tried to shift to second, the gear wouldn't go in! I pump the clutch and tried again, then tried all the gears and none worked. I pulled over and coasted to a parking lot where I tried to get the gears to go in, but I couldn't get it out of neutral. So tured off the car and it finally went in with a little force. I just messed around with it for a while 'till it finally went in normall. When i started my car, the car drove fine and everythig except that the car shaked a lot when I started off. So I took it to a mechanic and after checking it out, they said that both my slave and master clutch cylinders were leaking so they replaced it. I got the car back and it still shook when I took it off. So I took my car back and they checked it out again and found that the transmission mount was shot. He said it might cost like $200 to change it but I find that a little hard to believe.
Oh, and on top of that, after the incident when I was driving, the first time I tried to start it again my starter was making noise. So I guess coincidently my starter started going bad at the same time... sucks to be me...

Yeah, well turns out it's not the mounts. My clutch is going bad. The mechanic quoted me $550 for clutch, flywheel, throw-out bearing, and a few more things. Do I really need to change all of that?
I'm thinking of just selling my engine/tranny and getting an SR. The engine has only 75k on it and runs beautifully.

It costed me $300 for labor for the clutch install. i don't think you'd have to replace your flywheel just yet. resurfacing the old flywheel was $40 (but i had a new flywheel.) throw out bearing is $20 and they say it's good to always replace that. $550 seems somewhat high. i would ask him how much each part costs and you wouldn't have to replace your flywheel unless it has cracks.

I got my clutch parts straight from the Nissan dealer and they cost me $120 (for disk, TOB, pilot bearing, etc) and I believe they resurfaced my flywheel, instead of replacing it. The labor--I'm not sure about (my warranty covered it w/ the Rear Main seal replacement, but 2 local Nissan dealers quoted me $575-$650 to do the entire job--parts & labor.
I would suggest buying an aftermarket clutch or the parts straight from Nissan, and having someone other than a dealer to install them. Find a reputable service center and you should be able to save a decent amount on labor.

Yeah, I was quoted $550 from this mechanic. He has a good garage but I don't know how good his peopole are. They always get their parts straight from the dealer and I don't know how much they mark it up.
Wow! $300 is fuckin' cheap! How is just resurfacing the flywheel? Is it just like a shorterm solution?
