My splash gaurd is scraping the ground on the passenger side front wheel corner.  Can I just take it off or do you think water will hurt my engine?  I live in a very Hilly area and get plenty of standing water during a good rain fall.  there is a s13 in the junkyard here in Nashville and I can probably get the spash guard off of that if need be.

Thanks,
-Dave-

there was a debate over this.

for me, i was in an accident which i had to repair everything myself.  so i took off all the splash guards, to get more elbow room.  I havn't had any problems.

but the other argument is, the splash guards actually keeps the engine run cooler, because the way it's designed keeps max air flow directed towards the engine.  and without a doubt, it surly keeps the engine much cleaner, because you don't get dirt/mud in the pully and start shoting dirt at all direction.

and lastly, if your are talking about it scraping on the ground,  go take a look at it now, it tucks into the bumper, and has 1 bolt that goes there.  mine was doing the same, but when i checked, it was too late, the road already sanded the plastic to hell.  and ultimatly, i got so pissed off at it, i drove faster, caused the wheel to run over it, and ripped the whole thing out of it's fender along w/ the windsheild washer resivor,  not smart...

also, i think that the splash guards actually keeps your car more aerodynamic.  it makes the air flows smoother through the front of the car.
