S13 sr20 iacv

i was wondering if the hose from the IACV needs to really be hooked to a nipple from the cold pipe?

i was recently looking at the factory setup for the SR20 and it seems that the IACV receives ambient pressure on idle to control the idle of the vehicle (also temp signals). i have a different manifold on my motor which i am building and do not have the nipple coming from my cold pipe. i was thinking, while under boost, the IACV closes completely and reopens at idle at no load in the air intake system.

if i am incorrect then someone explain to me how the system works

where would you suggest getting a metered supply of air from? My understanding is that is the air supply used to run the car at idle. the throttle body would be closed at this point.

oh i see. i was looking at it wrong then. air needs to be SUPPLIED to the IACV. thats how it determines idle. now i understand. so i have to weld a nipple on the cold pipe then.
