If you undo the tranny clip, or "actuator" from what most sites call it, you will shift very hard.  I undid mine a long time ago, and my car makes loud metal on metal "CLANK" during shifts and makes the entire car hop.  It didn't do this about 6 months ago.
On the bright side, the car moves forward during the shift, as opposed to lose speed and kinda fall back during the shift.
If you don't know where it is, it's on the drivers side fender, right where it bolts to the wheel well.  Grey plastic thing, kinda hard to unclip.
