s14 window problem

searched and didnt find anything specific to this problem....my passger window would go down but if its not completely down it wouldnt go back up, its only when i roll it all the way down and play with the switch it would go back up, i wouldnt think its the motor since it still goes up quickly and it wouldnt be the amp since it goes up and down, im guessing its the regulator getting stuck or something? any help would be much appreciated

my amp was bad and my windows would work occassionally. then just stopped completely. Replaced the amp and all is well now. Try the amp. They are pretty cheap. just ask someone who is parting out their car

I kinda have the same issue with my driver side window.

Usually punching the door panel will get it going, but I don't think my amp is bad. I just resoldered the joints and it seems great, but when I pull the wiring in one direction, it works just fine.

Last thing I wanna do is rewire all that crap. >.<

The amp only drives the driver side window, so that is NOT the problem if the passenger side window is acting up. Pull the panel, the regulator could be binding or jammed, or the motor is on it's last leg.

Pull the door panel, if nothing is mechanically binding then it is the switch itself on the Driver side. If the Driver side fails then the Passenger side will not work.

Sometimes all you have to do is take apart the switch and clean the contacts.

I too had the same problem and asked my friend who then took it apart and showed me.

Incorrect. The amplifier is driven off a negative trigger from the main switch which relays to the motor, while the passenger side amplifier is internal within the main switch. If the amplifier goes out the main switch is still working, and therefore the passenger side window still works fine.

On 96+ models the amplifier is internal for both sides, and in that case if the main switch died, both windows would indeed not work. 89-94 and 1995 models with the external amp don't work that way.

it depends on what year your s14 is. always provide the year of your car because there are differences between the years.

mines is a 95, my best bet is the probably just greasing up the track of the regulator since its whats most likely the problem from what you guys said and cant be the motor since when it goes up its still quick

im going through this problem right now, my driver side window would go down just fine everytime, but sometimes would have a problem going back up, i would just hold the switch "up" until it rolled up...and just yesterday the window got stuck going down 1/2 way...and wouldnt move at all

so my buddy said it MIGHT be the amp, went to the junkyard today, got an amp from a working window (tested it on other car) and my window still wont work....so im going back to the junkyard, and swap out the switch first (since its REALLY fast) and see if thats the problem....if not, then i guess its the motor =/

The regulator could be binding up too.
