We always suggest for someone to search, since I seem to type this weekly.

VSS must match the cluster. Nothing else matters. Transmissions are the same from 89-98, you don't have an 'S13 transmission', you have a transmission removed from an S13.

I figured instead of creating a new thread i can just threadhustle this one. I just completed an auto to manual swap in my 95 using s13 tranny. My Q is I purchased a new s14 vss that came without the gear can I transfer the gear from the s13 vss? I searched but can not find the correct answer. I know this topic is covered to death but the info is sketchy.

No you cannot swap the pinion gear from a S13 to S14 or vice versa, and you cannot use a auto pinion gear on a manual speed sensor and vise versa.

Also the 89-98 trans are not the same exactly. You'll be missing the cranks position sensor. S14 have one S13 don't. OP you will have a CEL without it.

I realized that a little too late. Any possible ways to get around that (trick wiring etc...?) For CEL purposes only.
