The 5 speed conversion isn't an easy thing to do, you have to have all of the hard lines, master and slave cly's, pedals and half a dozen other things, as well as drilling holes and yadda yadda, we are doing one later this month but depending on how smooth this one goes I don't know if we are going to do any more... haha.
Fatman's site is down right now because he is having problems with his provider but it should be back up pretty soon. Let me know if you are looking for somewhere to get the SR engine, we will give you a pretty good break on install labor if you do the 5 speed conversion and have us install the SR at the same time. |

Well actually its neither hard nor easy. If you get all the parts it is a pretty straight forward swap. I should know I am doing it <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> . All i can say is get all your parts together ahead of time.
1. Make sure all sensors are one the 5 speed i.e. back up light sensor , 5 gear sensor etc.. 2. Clutch master , slave cylinder, line and bleeder assemby. 3. Flywheel with bolts(the automatics flywheel is different and bolts are shorter) 4. pedals . 5. Ok on your firewall inside your driver compartment the places for the holes for mounting your clutch master are already there. so is the hole for the shaft of the clutch master. The other side which is in your engine compartment needs to be punched out and the mount holes need to be drilled out (which really is not that hard) 6. there is a hole already where your auto shift lever comes through the floor . Usually there is just an external plate that needs to be removed . your console piece even pops out the gap piece to be adapted to the boot clips for you shift lever. The only other thing you may need is different bolts for bolting up the 5 speed crossmember support. I am doing mine next week. I have been planning on doing it for awhile but have been very busy. This is all outlined to even more detail on 240sx.org in the installs section. |

YOU GUYS ARE FORGETTING ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS EVERYTIME WE TALK ABOUT THIS TOPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
how the #### are you gonna put back the driveshaft when it is about 3-4 inches shorter?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when you go from a auto to manual swap?!!!!!!!!!! YOU CANT, hence, you have to have your old one Re-Fabricated (if you do this, make sure the people sending your motor and tranny, will send you the SR tranny YOKE otherwise, your gonna have to deal with some shithead at a driveshaft place, like i had to...sorry for the language, but THOSE GUYS ARE FUCKERS!!!!), or just have a whole new one made... GOOD LUCK IS ALL I HAVE TO TELL YOU!!!!!!!! I had to go through it, hopefully someone else here will... and SHARE MY FREAKIN PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I heard the driveshaft from a manual 240 will work without any modifications. Also, you have to use the dust cover from the 240 manual 5 speed tranny and put on the DET's tranny. I researching this as I'm about to convert my '90 240SX automatic to DET motor and 5 speed.
