'exhaust leak' sound at high rpms...ka24de?

I have tightened up the exhaust, cat, and header, but still have a 'ticking' sound at 5k rpm or so. It sounds like an exhaust leak, but really I don't see how it can be.

Is this a normal sound for the KA24DE at high rpms?

It's an OBX header, 3" catco, and 5zigen 80mm pro racer a-spec if it matters.

Thanks

Å

Gaskets are all good...there isn't a leak at any of the joints.

It sounds just like a ticking exhaust leak would though but only at very high rpms.

Are you sure the ticking is coming from the exhaust and not the head? Put your ear closer to the valve cover and listen again. I would expect a hiss from an exhaust leak.

are you using a silencer?

check for exhaust leaks... use a rag and hold it over your muffler and listen for hissing or any other sounds

could also be a rattling hangar

I can only really hear it when I am passing a wall or cars on my side. Only at higher rpms...

I am wondering if if may be valve noise...I did swap to a 248 cam on the intake.

I will have to find somewhere to rev it and listen tomorrow. Can't really do it at my house without pissing off my neighbors

seems to go away / be less noticable after a longer drive (my commute is only 4 miles each way).

I think I had read with an aftermarket exhaust the car can be raspy / noisy until warmed up. Not sure if that was about the 240SX or another car.

" is this coming most likely from the exhaust manifold gasket?"
