What do guys like for their birthday?

Alright guys, i need some helpful suggestions as to what to give a guy for his birthday. I always find it difficult shopping for a dude and the only thing i can really think of is food and clothing. First off, he is not my boyfriend but he is close to me.


Also, please do not say sex. Let's get that out of the way now since i'm sure most of you will say something along the lines of women and sex.

also i'm not a big fan of gift cards, they are so impersonal.


here are the basics:

the guy is:


-a graff artist/graphic designer therefore his spare time it revolves around creating new things.
-currently into working out
-isn't big on going out partying
-more of a laidback quiet person
-recently quit smoking and drinking
-is not a car enthusiast
-enjoys all kinds of ethnic foods
-enjoys all kinds of music mainly hip hop
-enjoys movies, foreign/indie flicks in particular
-is open minded


that's all i got so far i guess...

A good cologne, not the cheap shit.

A nice pair of dressy but semi-casual shoes.

Take him to a nice dinner with shared friends.

Depends on the budget.

I would be stoked if a woman thought to get me any one of those things. But, in the end it's free shit and you can't complain. Unless you get him a suitcase full of dildos.

Umm since poon is off the list I say, If he is a tech guy, go to best buy and watch what he picks up. Chances are he will show you what he likes. If he is into cars get him a part he wants/needs.

I would imagine that he would already have an Ipod or something... Really good headphones like suggested above is a good idea. Maybe a nice watch or some shades, a 12 pack of Kraft Dinner?? It doesn't have to be material though. Take him to a show that he would enjoy and go out for a unique meal somewhere.

I was sitting in class and thinking about what to do for him and i think i have a good idea...

friday- (actual birthday) Since both of us work full time we'd see each other in the evening. I'm taking him to this really really good sushi spot that i'm positive he's never been to that i'm sure he'll like. (don't know what present to give him yet along with the dinner but it will be a small thoughtful/inside joke along with a real gift)

saturday-pick him up and load 2 bikes in my car and ride along the coast with him somwhere in laguna/newport. I'm also gonna pack food i've made so that afterwards we can sit on the beach and eat. I was thinking of just preparing a really good salad, chicken, and pasta with a dessert. watch the sunset, enjoy the scenery. (he lives in la so he rarely goes to chill out at the beach he mentioned earlier this week he wants to spend a day at the beach sometime soon, so i'll take him.)


perhaps afterwards, head back to la, and veg out to a movie.




he likes little things, he's laid back, so i'm sure he'd enjoy something that's both active and relaxing.


what do you guys think? pretty good?
