Need exhaust S13

Any recommendations? Car is currently a secondary car but I end up driving it 3-4 days out of the week. Prefer something fairly quiet. My Tanabe G-power exhaust gave up the ghost (too many run ins with my driveway). I am guessing something like a 5 zigen border or something along those lines. Any suggestions?

Part of me wants to try a running 3" piping from the cat back to a resonator and then all the way back following the stock pipe routing. The new Neon SRT is like that from the factory. No muff. Doable? Or will the noise just kill me?

Are you running a turbo?

Why would you not use a muffler???

I don't understand people...

Do some searching. I've got some results for you here:

S13 Exhaust Search Results

I've got the HKS HP on my '91 FB. I got the n/a version (mistake, but my car won't see a hairdrier for a good year, at least), I like the sound and performance it delivers, but hate the looks. That's just a personal opinion. Good luck.

Yeah, you don't want 3" piping with N/A. It will be loud as hell. You shouldn't go with anything with a Diameter>2.5". 2.5" piping will also be loud with out a muffler. And don't compare an SRT-4 with a 240SX. Yes, it's turbo..but it's still a Neon. Look into the 5Zigen Fireball, I think the border is for boosted cars. The Fireball should give you better ground clearance than the Tanabe., and I hear it isn't too loud, but definately not quiet.

On both the 240s I've owned, I've had 2.5" piping. And it isn't nearly as loud as a 3" pipe. Check the soundclips we have on the main page.

Yes, I am running a turbo (check out my profile). Mufflers are there to reduce sound but are also very heavy. If I can figure out a way get away with not running one, then I will be happy. I know if you run a straight pipe all the way back a la all the N1 style canisters, then the car will be loud. But if you route the exhaust through the stock path, the twist and turns help dissipate some of the sound energy (along with some of the exhaust energy which isn't necessarily a good thing) which means I might be able to get away with not running a muffler while maintaining some modicum of performance and reaping the benefits of smaller polar moment of inertia due to less weight on the ends.

Either way, I found a Border 3 for a decent price and will be doing the install this afternoon.

If you're running a turbo and don't want muffs, the go with the trust DD. That exhaust is the reason I want a snail on my car. Sooooo cool.
