I just called the 1800 number to schedule and appointment for a ref ticket and all the ref stations are closed.

That's exactly what I was thinking. What if you're pulled over with an illegal engine. I'm sure they just won't shrug it off. There might be a huge fine since it won't be correctable anymore...

But I don't see how the state could send cars to a service that isn't avalible to the people.

But CHP officers could still write the ref tickets off, so that possibility isn't out the window just yet.

If shit goes back to the chp we are fucked. They will be pretty hard on stuff because we will get thrown into street racer category. The only people this would be good for is exhaust tickets anything else and they are going to hassle.

I think Chris explained it pretty well here. It also puts Chris and I into total Limbo.

Plus if you got reffed for an exhaust ticket the CHP is just going to do a look and listen situation. Its not like the ref where they inspect under your hood, put your car on a dyno and do a sound test while on the dyno which I might add is totally stupid shit to begin with. A engine does not change its sound revving at 3k stationary or running on dyno under load at 3k. Sound is the same at 3k no load or load. Fucking idiots need to study sound engineering and learn a little about frequencies hahahhaha.

they have so called smog machines that were set up around california. But it was only a nation wide test. I really dont think they will have smog machines with picture taking capabilities and so on. They dont even have enough money to run a regular Ref... lol

No you guys fail to see why this is happening. It has nothing to do with new smog machines! It has nothing to do with random roadside machines, that sniff your car going by and take pictures, then telling you if its polluting or not.

ITS CALLED STATE BUDGET CUTS, THE FUCKING STATE IS BROKE AND IN DEBT! Sorry for the caps, but if any of you had bothered following the news or reading a newspaper in the last couple of weeks, you would have read about state employee job cuts.

Job cuts due to state being broke and not having the budget to pay these people.

This is Arnolds attempt to get nearer to balancing the state budget for the next year.
The downturn in the economy and the real estate market plus the rise in the cost of oil and other commodities is killing the the tax revenue base.

This is part of those cuts. This is why this is happening. plain and fucking simple.

Try reading the newspaper on a daily basis and you will know the reasons for things like this.

Ray I could not agree with you more. Fact is they spend to much time trying to appease every damn far left liberal that falls off the boat.

For Example: Someones bright idea as part of the newer Green laws was to force Automotive body shops to start using Water based paint and air drying because its more environmently friendly.

Now don't get me wrong here I am for protecting the Environment but this was just some senators idea of more of a overall Green law without even knowing how little impact automotive paint shops have on the overall air quality or environment.

Another one which was completely political was the Senator from Fresno that wants to start making people smog cars pre 1975 because it looks like he is pro environment.
All the while he is fighting CARB to keep them from putting smog equipment on Farm equipment i.e. trucks and tractors.
Even though the central valley which Fresno resides in has absolutely terrible air quality i.e. smog because of said farm equipment.
Which have no smog stuff on them at all. Asshole wants to make cars pay so he can look good. While the farm lobby is lining his pockets. Porkbarrel politics, Sacramento is Famous for it.
