1993 240sx: any hints on installing rear shocks?

my shocks seem too long to fit. should i use a floor jack? how much do you tighten lock nut . I realize it has a torque spec of somthing like 14 lbs but nut can go further down depending on how much spring is compressed. should i just get the two shocks the same? thanks.

Stand on the hub with one foot, slide the shock in place.

Thanks , guys. Got it done. Standing on hub seems to do the trick. Having the tire on the opposite wheel may have hurt me in the beginning.
