I know I know its been done before. but I was reading an eibach FAQ and it said I could safely use it with the stock shocks. Is there risk of blowing stock shocks with a 1.7/1.4 drop? Even if there isn't, would I be better off buying aftermarket shocks anyway? If so, are eibach shocks any good? It would make since that they would be the best match for the springs. I was also looking at tokico shocks Here would they be good? I don't really care if they are adjustable or not. Another ? will I need a camber kit for a 1.7/1.4 drop? If so, what should I use to correct rear - camber? I know thats a lot of questions, answer what you can.
Edit: 1.2/1 (eibach prokit) isn't enough 2/2 (tanabie) is too much but if you have other springs to recommend please do so. Thanks (Edited by DSC at 10:43 am on Nov. 24, 2001) |

u might be able to get some more miles out of ur shocks after u upgrade springs, but if u can afford shocks now, do it. if ur gonna pay someone to put springs on, theyll have the old shocks right there. it doesnt cost any more $$ in labor to put NEW shocks in at that time. if u dont replace em, cuz u alter the dampening position of the shock once lowered, they may blow out sooner than u think.....with luck ud get some more miles. if u cant afford shocks (only Koni's for S14) but want to lower it, take the chance....u just might end up buying shocks anyway later!

i was an idiot and wanted to order them fast so i got them through my local shop. <a href="www.carparts.com" target='_blank'>www.carparts.com</a> has them $50 cheaper than what i paid for them. i would get them from there cuz i found them to be best priced there w/ shipping n all.

Which is better pro-kit or sportlines? Can't wait to have both shocks and springs. I just saw "driven", man I'm pumped :biggrin:!

After seeing (anthonys[sp?]) before and after pics of the pro-kits (1.2/1.0) I decided I wanted the sportlines (1.4/1.7) just cauz I like that lower look and I ofcourse want a nice low center of gravity. |

I'll post my standing gripe w/ the sportlines: 1) they are only .5" lower and 2) the spring rates are not sufficiently stiffer than the pro-kits to warrant the extra drop. I've heard too many bad stories about sportlines bottoming out the struts in agressive driving.
Other brands would be kg/mm (that I would consider). JDM and harder to find in the US, but supposedly the best progressive spring for the 240. I know nothing about non-adj. shocks. |

say I put 17 or 18" rims on. Don't you think the car would look ready for offroading with only a 1" drop? How about the tanabie's then? Anybody use them? They are a bit lower than I wanted but I think I'd rather have a 2" drop than a 1" drop. Then again, I don't want to scrape every little bump or pothole. Arg! Why couldn't everybody just say "yeah dave those are awsome get them. And these shocks are the best with those springs because bla bla bla" <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Nope life can't be that simple can it. hehe

Well, with lowering around 2", you're gonna have to accept the fact that you're going to scrape and bump more often than a car with a higher stance. =/
I have a Eibach Sportline and Tokico HP setup in my car and argh....it sucks. When I would drive the car normally, it's fine, but when I wanna tackle corners and stuff, the handling is less to be desired. For daily driving, it's not bad, but for hardcore sports driving, it's sorta ass. Just check out different spring rates on the net. Also keep in mind that RSR also makes springs for the S14. If you had around $900-$1000 to blow, you can go with a Ground Control + Koni sport shocks setup. Ground Controls are made by Eibach and they're stiffer than the Pro-Kit, plus they're adjustable. There's a Group Buy on them at groupbuycenter.com for $375 plus shipping. Not bad compared to the $399 retail price. |

I've been told from one of our 240 members that the Eibach pro-kit actually drops the car by 2". And I've heard this from other sources as well.
the H&R sport springs actually has less of a drop than the Eibach prokit if you're not looking to lower your car so much. Actually, I'm looking for a spring with even less of a drop. So if you guys know of any, please let me know. |

what year is your 240sx? S13 then i would get AGX or koni adjustable
S14- depends on how much u wanna spend, there is a big difference between adjustables cuz the only one who makes them is Koni.... or u can just get non-adjustable Tokico or KYB GR2 |

I've got an s14. I want to get springs and shocks for about $600 or less. Heh, its funny how the sportlines suck for agressive (sporty) driving. What about the Road race springs? They are the same drop as the sportlines but stiffer. Anybody use these? Thanks for all the help guys

Yeah too much on that site. I found them for $538 shipped from tire rack and $560 at a group buy (go figure why they're more expansive in the group buy). I might back off the group guy and break my word and get the from tire rack.

So do you all think this would be a good combo? H&R sport springs (~1.4/1.3) for $207, Koni sport shocks (yellows) for $530 and new strut boots for $40(mine are falling apart) say $30 shipping, $100 install/realignment/ect. That sound about right? Shit, thats ~$900 for suspension <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> A bit more than the $600 I was hopeing to get it for. Maybe I could get those springs with the tokico blues, they are only $370. That gets me down to $750 which is a bit more acceptable. If youall can't tell i'm just sortof thinking "out loud" on this one <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> So H&R Sport springs (~1.4/1.3) with Tokico blue shocks. dont get the Konis then.... if u get the GR2 or TOkico then u will be paying like $200-250 for stocks and then u can get any springs u want.... $130 for Sprints
$220 for H&R, $250 Proline Eibach, $200 for Intrax, or even coil-overs from Ground control for $450 (but i dont like coilovers) (i like the Dampering coilover systems) |

The KYB GR2 is actually a bit stiffer than the Tokico blues. But they are both just a stock replacement so it will never be a perfect match with the sport springs. But I'd say the H&R sport springs/KYB GR2 would be the cheapest good combo without going to coilovers.
