the belt also squeals. I assume the pulley should not move at all other than in circular direction?
the hicas pulley is different from the regular power steering pulley. courtesy parts says they sell the driveshaft separate but the factory service manual shows the shaft and pulley as one.
any insight would be appreciated.

the pulley shaft has a bad bearing.

thanks. does anyone know if the hicas pulley comes off the shaft? because courtesy parts sells the hicas shaft for $37.

if bearing is gone, should i just replace the pump? i can get new one shipped for about $130.

"I had to call Nissan on this. They could not verify if the pulley comes with
that shaft. The shaft is no longer available.

The only way to get the pulley is to buy the entire pump.. but it is no longer
available from Nissan."

double checked and it turns out its just an in and out movement. not a side to side movement. back to looking for source of squeal.
