![]() Just swapped an sr20det, I got a 3 inch downpipe , running no muffler , i need to go with an exhaust setup. I amthinking a high flo cat and a apex n1, what do you think ? I want a high flow cat or a gutted cat cuz I dont wanna get screwed by the cops. btw the stock cat is 2" i believe so i cant just gut that....hmmm? any ideas? can somebody recomend a brand of a 3" high flow cat?

Meh, get a hi-flow cat. A gutted cat will create enough turbulence to not be much better.
Then again that philosophy may not apply to turbo cars. . .

![]() well, i can honestly vouch for random technologies. they flow like nobody's business - though virtually all aftermarket hi-flow cats are almost identical. my main selling point was stainless construction
i run a 2.5, it's loud as hell with the KA NA w/ header and N1 dual < shrug >

i live in ga and emissions is not an issue, i put a blitz three inch downpipe, 3 inch test pipe, apexi n1 all the way from there, haven't test it yet but JWT said if emissions wasn't an issue, this was the way to go, definite breathing room for the turbo

http://www.randomtechnology.com/nissan.html You can get 3" diameter inlet/outlet cats from Random...part number 823030 is a 3" diameter cat which was made for a modified Maxima which can also be used as a direct replacement for the 240SX stock cat as well. |

I still have the stock cat on my SR w/ the greddy 3in dp and apex'i n1 dual. The stock cat will fit. Although I blew out 4 gaskets by keeping it on.
My hypothesis: It creates to much back pressure and blocks air flow to the point that the expelled gasses would shoot back up to the turbo. I also back fired all the time. Probally due to the engine running rich to combat the backup of exhaust gas in the manifold
