Question Rim offset?

What is the biggest rim offset I could put under my 98 240sx SE(5-lug)?

Please re-word your question and tell us exaclty what you want to do with your car.(i.e. did you find rims you want and don't if they fit, do you need to clear coilovers, do you want the wheel to be flush with the fender . . .etc.) If you do not fully understand the concept of offset then go here.

The proper offset (or even the range of offsets that will work) will depend largely on the width of the rim that you pick.

It depends what you want, i dont think the widest and tallest rim is going to help you out if you want performance. IMHO i wouldnt go higher than 17"s or wider then 9.5".

?????

I found the rims that I like, but the thing is that I would like the rims to look like the deep-dish rims, so what is the deepest offset(negative) I can go to make it look sweet yet perform well also? And yes the do have to fit with Tein HA Coilovers.http://www.wholehyper.com/wheels-new.html Scroll to the bottom click on VOLK RACING (on the left) and then click and GT-C(top right). I would like 18 by 9s Front 18 by 10s or 11s in the Back for a ton of traction!!! So what off set should or would I be able to get?????

Thanks and sorry for the confusion

what wheels/tires (size and offset please) do you have now and how much clearance to you have? (between the coilover to the tire and also to the inside of the fender to the tire) I don't want to give you bogus info.

But just so you know . . . with coilovers you will most likely be limited to a 235 series tire or less in the front so just don't expect to put monsters up there even if you do have 9in wide rims. And unless your are putting down alot more power than stock (like twice as much) then there isn't a whole lot of benefits to having wider rear tires. It can upset the neutral handling of the car and tire replacement becomes alot more frequent when you can't rotate them. If you just want "the look" then that's your prerogative but just know what you are getting into.

This link should help you out a bit. It's an offset calculator.
