Educate me on internals
I was thinking about rebuilding my motor this summer but I do not have the basic concept to get the max power out of the engine in accordance with GT2871R .64 setup. I know what kind of effects "boring" have to the engine, though I have no idea how lifters (solid??), spring valves, retainers, rocker arm, and cams come together to decrease the spool time. I know the terms yet, I am unable to figure out the effects in upgrading these items when rebuilding the motor. If someone could post me a website where I can learn, that will be great.
Thanks. |

the only thing you will really be able to change is the cam. look up different cam profiles and how they affect flow rates.
but the best way to see how you flow is to put the head on a flow bench, what you are shooting for is exh flow of about 80-85% of your intake and with almost zero overlap in your came profile. you want to be able to open and close the valves as fast as posible and to the max lift for as long as posible without floating the vavles (stronger spings fixes this) and still not need to much force to open and close them (strong springs and a steep ramp down hurt here) for a turbo though, the less overlap the better
