So, my car makes these REALLY weird noises, clunks and just acts funny when moving in reverse. I'm not sure if there's something stuck down there, but my shifter also vibrates. So... anyone?
Thanks! |

nah, dont worrry about it. my car does it too, the only thing that would really help it is a 300zx brake upgrade. mabye new steel braided brake lines might help, but its Nissan's present for our cars. i've heard alot of 240sx owners say the same. nothing you really can do that would be cheap. nothing's stuck or wrong, they just chatter. (they sorta lock up)

my girl friend had that same problem in reverse,
she took it back to the machanic who did the brakes last week and it was just a stone that was caught up in there. maybe u should file an insurance claim??? |

Did yo check your e-brake's cable tention? I had a cable tention problem and the e-brake was getting hung up, causing jerky acceleration in reverse and so not so nice noises while I reversed.

Why is everyone saying brakes? She said the shifter vibrates, making me think it's got to do with the blocking mechanism on reverse, the same thing that makes it hard to shift to reverse when you're at a stop sometimes will sometimes make the car jerk a little bit. It's pretty common, and I don't think it's anything to worry about. You might want to make sure that you're totally stationary before you shift to reverse, that will keep it from happening...
