![]() I think either my clutch is fried or there's something else that's wrong. Two nights ago, I was driving home at like 5 in the morning. There was nothing wrong at the time. That same morning I had to go to work at 7 am . I started my car and let it warm up. After about 10 min., I started to leave to go to work. I attempted to put it in reverse, but it wasn't going in. So, I kind of forced it in and it grinded. I took it out of reverse and tried putting it in the other gears. The weren't getting in there. I had to press the clutch a couple times before it would go in smoothly (the shifter getting in gear). I thought nothing of it and went to work. When I was leaving work to go home, it was doing the same things again (not getting in gear as if I was trying to shift without pressing the clutch). I got home and I started to feel a bit concerned. So when I started my car again to go somewhere, the clutch was light as a fuc**** feather. There was like NO resistance at all. Oh yeah, I can't put it in gear anymore because I'm pretty sure the clutch isn't engaging with the flywheel. So, what do you guys think? Sorry for such a long post.

S.O.B. *sigh* Can you give me an idea of how much it would cost to replace a clutch master cylinder? *angry*

not much.
a rebuilt master cylinder here is 70$cdn... that's roughly 50$ your currency. add 1-2 hours of labor or do it yourself and voilĂ*! ![]()

first get a friend over to your house. Wiggle yourself under the car and have your friend pump the clutch. ( if it doesn't get stuck to the floor) Once he pumps it a few times you should be able to see if the slave cylinder is leaking. If not then check the master cylinder. (it doesn't matter what order you do this)
Mine would get stuck to the floor and fluid would leak out of the slave cylinder. I got a rebuilt one for $24 and it fixed the problem! |

its one of you cyclinders just make sure you know which one. slave is on the tranny and its about $34. master is next to your brake master cyclinder and its abour $50.
mine was the Master. it works great now. mine wasn't leaking however i bleed it once and it was a tad better. but when i changed my MC i took out my comfort box(a box with 3 lines runing in to it one from MC, one nylon hose and one to my Slave.) that is known to trap air. take it out bend the MC line to the slave line and they screw right in to each other that should solve your problem but will give you a slightly harder pedal. |

Thanks for all the replies guys. Well, its obvious its not the clutch...so...I'm going to go ahead and check the clutch clylinders. Hopefully, changing either one of these (master or slave) is cake to fix!

To see if its your master cylinder, look around your clutch pedal for fluid, and look around the MC area under the hood for leaks. If it's damp around any of these areas, it's your MC. If not, it may be your slave cylinder, which is under the car on the passenger side, near where the tranny and engine mate up.
Good luck; changing the MC is an easy fix, it's just annoying to have to get under the car and bleed the damn thing when you're done! =)

there are two nuts on the MC plus a pin that needs to be pulled at the top of the clutch pedal in the car and the one line going down that's it for the MC
slave cyl is two anchor bolts and one line |

you have to get a friend and bleed the system. try and search and i'm sure you can find a procedure somewhere on here. its not too hard at all, sounds like you have air in your system and you'll wanna check your slave cylinder to make sure its not leaking.
