swapping out my ka24de and putting in a s13 blacktop....2 of my friends have already done their swaps and each of them had to replace their water pumps due to overheating. they both have redtops. i was wondering if changing the water pump is a mandatory thing when swapping in the engine.

Not usually, I didn't change mine.

I can see that with redtops though. Those motors are just getting older and older.

Regardless check yours out. With the motor already outa the car it should be pretty simple to pop that sucker out, make sure it spins right and bolt it back on.
