How to install arias piston snap rings?

these are really weird... they loop around like a keychain? cant figure out how to put them on

best bet is to call piston company and talk to tech guy...
Not saying someone here doesn't know, but if you follow wrong direction your buying new rings... dont want that!

is case anyone else has this problem and finds this thread from a search, these are the rings


they are called spiral retaining rings

you are supposed to use a small screwdriver to walk them in or something

i know i'm bringing back an old thread.. but i'm facing the same problem, having a very difficult time installing the retaining ring. has anyone done it before, and can offer some advice?

they are a pain in the ass to do.

I stretched them out just a little then, like said above, get them started and follow around pushing in with a flat head.

I used the all the time at work Duece, here goes:

1. Secure piston in something so it doesn't move.
2. Bend out the side you are going to insert into the groove a little.
3. Use either a scribe or a pointed punch to "walk it" all the way around slowly.
4. BAM! One down three to go.

OR
You could come down and I can do it for you on saturday.
