fuel problem

Hey guy's need some help. I have a 1990 240 and i am not getting any fuel to the cylinders. The fuses and relays are ok unless i am missing some. The fuel pump is working, I replaced the fuel filter and I have fuel to the fuel rail but no fuel out of the return line. If the injectors are not working wouldn't I still get fuel out of the return? Any ideas?
Thanks
Doug

Do you smell fumes? Are the lines under the car damaged at all? Maybe the return line. Let me know.

No lines are not damaged. And I am talking about the fuel return line where it comes out of the fuel rail, right next to where the fuel goes into the dampener/fuel rail. I pulled the line off of the fuel filter on the output side and I have fuel but I don't have any coming out of the return side of the fuel rail. Could the dampener be causing a problem. Or could it be the injectors?

That's a definite possibility tougebear as I this bought this car last week from a guy that just put a engine in it but never finished it. I've been trying to figure out where everthing goes.I thought I had it correct but you might be right. Do you know which line the fuel coming out of the filter connects to? Is it the one that goes to the back of the fuel rail(with the dampener?) or is it the one that comes out from the front of the fuel rail and wraps around to the back?

Head is the regulator that little round thing on the back of the fuel rail? Because that is the line that I have my fuel filter connected to. The line that comes out of the front of the rail does a 180 to the back of the rail and turns to the passenger side with the other line is what I have my return connected to. Is this reversed? Thanks for the reply. Doug
