sr20 Vs stock block

This is my first time posting here so please don't be too harsh on me. I have a question, my friend and I are finishing dropping a new engine in his 91 240 (same engine) and hes got the old one which we found out today is still good. (he will probably tell you guys about it) and I was thinking for a nice project to convert that engine into a pure race motor. Now I know the sr20 Is by far the most popular swap, and cheaper than rebuilding the stock engine, but couldnt you get more hp out of the stock block. It is .4 liters bigger . And isnt the sr20 an aluminum block which cant handle as much boost. I know the difference in weight is a concern but with the right internals wouldnt the original block be able to handle tons more boost. Im not talking about something that will take 2 months and cost 3 grand but something that he could work on for a few years in his garage, Then have a damn good sports car.

SR vs. KA is an argument almost as old as the 240SX itself.

It's ALL PREFERENCE. Both have their advantages.

That's not to say you shouldn't build the hell out of a spare KA if you've got one.

Lemme boil it down:

SR20DET: High winding

KA24DE + turbo: torquey bitch.

Hit the search, you will find all sorts of lucious threads on this topic.
