![]() I was wondering if the altima fans would fit and be more efficient running with the stock clutch fan.
I know that the altima fans are pullers, Is the clutch fan a puller too ? I an not running a koyo rad yet, i have the stock sr radiator. My goal is to make my car run cool as a whistle in the hot south fl temperatures....without dishing out $200 dollars on a koyo and another $100 on moshimoto electric fans.... Right now im running 50/50 coolant, water wetter and a higher pressure radiator cap. I am going to install a air diverter to maximize air driven through the radiator. |

I did the Altima electric fan conversion, and it works fine. The clutch fan feels like it pulls more air. You will have mod the Altima fan shroud to fit in the bay, cause its a little too wide and it hits the battery tray

damn you need to search. Stock fan shroud and clutch fans work the best. Unless you dont have the space anymore and your forced to use electrical fans.

+1243254352345 i just replaced my tarues fan with the oem clutch fan and shroud, its so much better.

I wanted to see if running 2 sets of fans would see significant gains in cooling. If i run the stock clutch fan and electric fans, wouldnt that be better hypothetically speaking.....If i could get it to work i think it should be very efficient....

Just use the clutch fan. You can put a little electric fan too for being in traffic. Clutch fan + electric = best of both worlds.

The Altima fans would move more air than the single electric fan that comes stock, but by removing the OE shroud the clutch fan's airflow isn't directed as well. So you will see improved cooling when the electric fans kick on with the A/C engaged or when the car reaches 203 degrees, but you will loose some efficiency without the shroud in place. In other words, leave it. The hassle of modifying the Altima shroud and wiring harness the correct way isn't worth the gains at all, unless you make some sort of auxiliary shroud for the clutch fan too.

Yea i know it has the ac fan, i dont have AC and using an s14 ac fan infront of the clutch fan with shroud in place. I think thats a pretty good set up.

i just installed a set of altima's on my sr'd s13 to replace the clutch fan with no shroud. i understand that the shroud plays a large part in the efficiency of the clutch fan. my reasoning for using the altima fans is that, when wired and setup correctly, they will operate just like oem, but with the ability to adjust when they activate. if they can keep an altima cool, then why wouldnt it work for my car? my car definitely runs cooler now than it did before. i could keep the temp at or under 170* all day if i wanted, even in 90*+ ambient temps

I just worked on an NX2000 this morning that was overheating, the fan trigger had burned up somewhere in the car. I rigged it to a ground so at least they'll run and keep the engine from cooking. A clutch fan wouldn't allow that to happen. But to get back to it, A proper shroud over the clutch fan and properly installed/wired Altima fans together would be a very nice setup for cooling. Both fans wired through relays to trigger on low and high speeds as well as A/C engagement and the clutch fan working all the time would be awesome.

I dont see why not, i'm running a puller infront of my clutch fan just for sitting in traffic mostly.

Clutch fan FTW seriously, Its been proven many times believe me i research ALOT when it comes to EVERYTHING haha and decided to go with the stock fan setup, I bought all brand new oem stuff from nissan japan, Instead of doing an FAL-345 setup with a DFI Fan controller. Just go with the clutch fan for sure!

I dont think my altima fans have come on in the past 6 months. Maybe its because I have a nismo thermostat, massive radiator, cooling panel and a swirl tank and honda type II.
OP dump the water wetter, it kills the OATs in your cooling system in a few months (BITOG.com for reference). Im about to remove my altima fans due to frying a relay from soldering. I may just go back to the single OE electric fan, even in traffic I can still flip on the fan because ive grounded cooling fan relay #1 to a switch. |
