Crazy honda conversion?

I saw something pretty cool today, at least I think I did... I was driving down towards my house back from wal-mart and I saw a prelude coming towards me. It was pretty sweet looking, so I took notice. Anyway, once it passed me, I looked in the rearview, and I noticed that it had a flat vertical back glass. I swear it was a Del Sol! Has anyone ever seen a Del Sol with a Prelude front end? It was pretty sweet looking even if it was only in my head. I love the idea of the del sol, but I like the prelude's front end a lot better.

I've worked on that blue truck. CLEEEEEEAN. He's got a crazy interior, and like 5 12s in the back seat.

Wow this topic has a lot of meaning to me, since I used to be a del Sol Fanatic. I chatted with some of those people you have pics of. The yellow one was from San Diego and was for sale a while back; he wanted like $17k iirc, but it was for sale for a long time.

But going to an actual drift event changed my mind. If the del Sol was RWD I would still have it. I had pics with both the 92-96 and 97-02 Prelude headlights, but I can not find them at the moment.

Anyhow for your amusement, here is a 300SX taillight conversion (looks Photoshopped), I personally do not like it.

Honda del Sol... a perfectly good mid-engined sports car until Honda stuck the engine in the wrong end.

The del sol is such an underachiever. Weak chasis, no power, FWD. If the engineers at honda actually put their heads together to make a great mid-engine platform (which wouldn't be that hard from an engineering stand point) some chasis reinforcement and a little more "Vt3k y0" power I would more than likely own one.

The midengine conversion has been done on the del-sol but I can't remember what engine they used

my boy put (or is in the process) s2k headlights, tailights and seats in his 95 civic hatch which has a b16 and a hybrid (from the insight) emblem. we call his car the "identity crisis".

hopefully i can get some pics and i'll make a post or something, but i respect it cause its coming out CLEAN and aleast he stayed in the honda family. besides that what hondas are good for "show" ... and hes spent a sh!t load.

This was the Top Fuel del Sol you are talking about. The engine was a turbocharged 550HP B18C Type R Engine IIRC. Link with more info:

http://www.superstreetonline.com/fea...ehicles/22618/

For the underachieving part, the del Sol's top of the line trim, the VTEC one, had decent power with the B16A2/3. The major problem with it IMHO was its price tag. For the price of this top of the line model you could get a base model Prelude. Why do I know so much about this car...
