![]() I have a s14 with a sr20det redtop. It is a daily driver. Right now i only have a front mount intercooler and a full 3" exhaust. My future plans are around 300-350 rwhp.
Now my clutch is going, i am really strapped for cash...I have been saving to buy coils for most of the year and now...my clutch is going. I searched and everyone is saying i should get the exedy stage 1 clutch and pressure plate. But will this be good for my goals. All my friends run ACT and swear by them. But i still want coils and i can't wait till next year and my money just will not stretch to get coils and a ACT clutch. Their is a exedy stage 1 clutch with 15lbs flywheel selling for $270 will that be good or will it slip if i decide to go to go to 350rwhp. Any insight would be good the previous posts only touched on the surface i need details. Thanks |

My recommendation is a south bend dxd racing clutch for when you go to higher hp. But why not just save money and get what you need for your future setup?
Anyways, I do have a stage 1 exedy clutch for sale if you want it. Its got only 5000 miles on it. PM me if you want a price and more details. FYI, I'm not asking much so should be in your price range. |

For about $350 or less you should be able to go either:
ACT Steet Disk and extreme PP or ACT 6-puck disk and heavy duty PP. Both setups should be good for well over 400 ft-lbs of tq, which you will never see. Street disk and heavy duty PP will start to slip around 320 ft-lbs to the wheels, so I would suggest going with one of the above setups. The top one will be harder to push, but easier to engage smoothly, the bottom one will be easier to push, but harder to engage smoothly. If you are strapped for cash, getting a new flywheel is not a good idea. Just have the stock one resurfaced, if it even needs it.

I don't push it, it's my daily and has to last. It is a redtop with the original clutch in it. I just don't want to replace with an OEM. If you change something i think it should be for the better not the same.
So is their any decent clutch that will hold up to 270 hp.....i think i might put off the 300-350hp till later in my build |

I personally run RPS on all my vehicles. Have used EVERY variation of their clutch on my old built KA and run both Max clutches on my SR. Not 1 complaint from me and will continue to use their products.
Regards, Robert
