squeeling noise.

just put a new clutch and trans in my 240. (pulled motor to do so)

i just got it wrapped up tonight and started it up. i have a few problems.

1. It turns over slowly. doesnt get worse or any better just turns slow then fires up. ideas?

2. With the clutch pedal pushed in and with it let out, the car makes a LOUD squeeling noise. (just as loud if not louder than open DP.) i reused the throwout bearing that was already on the trans, (has less than 5k miles on it, didnt even remove it) and we tightened the pressure plate. never removed the flywheel. now the car did sit for a few months, also the motor sat for a month without the trans on it so there might be surface rust on flywheel. but other than that, what could be causing this sound. i am not 100% sure where it is coming from due to open DP but it sounds like the area of the starter.

thanks!

you shoulda re surfaced the fly wheel and i never reuse throwout bearings. even sometimes new throwout bearings can be bad out of the box (like my last once i got in my exedy box)

your throwout bearing or also called clutch release bearing is going out. replace it.

the squealing happens when you step on the clutch.

Could be the pilot bearing as well. I had that problem, clutch in or out it squeeled. And yes, it would be very loud. Very very loud.

just to be sure i would eplace both the throw out bearing and your pilot bearing, and make sure you grease them up.

Send a message via AIM to chrisa
If your gonna take your trans back out replace BOTH the pilot and the throwout.
And the turning over slowly sounds like a weak battery.
