Having more Type-S blow off valve problems
So i read up on why Greddy discontinued the Type-S bov's, unfortunately a lot of them had leaks and weak diaphram's & such. Now im afraid the one i got that was 'apparently' brand new in box (bs im sure) is having problems. Just had it installed yesterday, but i've only heard it whistle once and that was before i tightend the screw on the back to keep it from dying out n all i can hear now is what sounds like compressor surge. Idk if thats just the sound this bov makes when the diaphrams are weak, or if its real compressor surge. I've got the screw tightend down right near where it dies out when it comes down to idle, idk what else to try other than to buy new internals for it

Where do you have your BOV hooked up to? Which nipples did you use? |

im using the nipple towards the top of the bov (not the adjustment screw, im not that dumb :P) and that hose runs back to the nipple directly above the throttle body, the little L shaped nipple below the throttle body has a hose that runs to my boost controller and from there to my actuator. is that a "i know what your problem is" sigh? or "this wont end well" sigh? lol.

Well, most people use the bigger nipple on top and to the right of the TB for their BOV, then stupidly tee off of that for either a boost gauge or WG or whatever else, which would cause the BOV to act wonky as shit.
Doesn't sound like you did that, which is good, because then you've eliminated one of the sources. BTW, I read your other thread. People actually TAKE OUT a spring from their GReddy Type S because it's on the stiff side. How much boost are you seeing and the BOV is still not opening? |

Then I think there's some underlying problems with your engine.
Because a lot of people run open atmosphere BOVs and their cars do not stall, mine included. Have you checked your TPS values? Make sure your MAF is working right? Timing? There are a shit ton of stuff that could contribute to your car almost stalling out when your BOV opens, and by you tightening the valve so much so that it's not even opening is just basically putting a band-aid on the problem, but not actually fixing it. You need to start diagnosing the car and checking the ECU for codes and the such, to make sure your engine is good to go, then you can start blaming the BOV for being faulty and all that. |

I'll try tinkering with it some more, if I can't get it set up right within the next day or so I'll probably be right back on here lol. I plan on having it tuned around xmas time anyways and I'm sure they can find out what the problem is if I don't have it right by then. thanks for the help and tips sosideways!!
