z32 brake caliper thread stripped.....replacable?
so today while i was removing the front z32 brakes on my 240, i noticed one of the bolts securing the caliper to the hub was completely stripped. upon closer inspection i found that the threads in the caliper itself are mostly stripped as well. it looks as if there's a threaded insert in this hole. does anyone know if this insert is replaceable? I'd like to avoid retapping this hole since i'd have to enlarge the hole in the hub as well.

"heli-coil" ftw.
if you've never installed one, however, i would have either a machine shop or a very experienced mechanic do the work for you. its not complicated on paper, but you can run into a snag or two that will have you pulling your hair out. |

thanks for the responses, i'm gonna try retapping the hole with an m12x1.25 tap just for the hell of it since the threads aren't competely stripped all the way through, but if that doesn't work out i'll just heli-coil it |

retap the hole, if you have 1/2 of good threads i would just put some loctite on the bolt when you put it back in. if not, use a longer bolt and put an additional nut with loctite on the backside.
or helicoil, still ftw. |
