Widest tires for 17x7 wheels??

Right now i have some 205/40/17 on, but theyre about dead, and i need new ones , so what size tire could i go with without ruining my handling. i was thinking about 225/40/17. what do you guys think?? Car is not lowered at all right now, but i am thinking about dropping it soon. Thanks for your help.

Damn 205/40/17 on stock ride height? You can probably stick your head in your front wheel gap.

225s for drag racing.
205s for drift.
215s for everything else.

Yeah huge wheel gap right now! Anyway, what about 225's for the rear, and 215's for the front?? Would i still have a nice handling 240? Or should i just go with the 215 all the way around?

i used to have 17x7 wheels all-round when i was still riding on stock height..
215/45 fronts, 225/45 rears. handles pretty good IMO.. its better than stock because of the tires im using (kumho ecsta supra)
it does felt a little sluggish (prolly because of my heavy 17s and the high offset)
but its all good, i autoX them and always ended up 2-3 seconds behind another 240sx (full suspension mods) with R compound tires..
hopefully i can cut down a lot of time with my current mods next autoX season.

Its not worth losing the ability to rotate your tires just to gain an extra centimeter of tread in the rear. Plus it'll cause a little more understeer. Plus it'll really accentuate that front wheel gap. I don't really see the point.

I was reading "Drifting" Magazine and noticed Nadine of www.nadine190.com runs 235's on 17x7's. Not quite sure if I'd attempt to do that, though.

SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK THEN?? 215'S ALL THE WAY AROUND, OR 225'S? BY THE WAY, HOW BAD WOULD THE NEGATIVE CAMBER BE IF I JUST DROP IT LIKE 1.3"-1.5"? WOULD I HAVE TO FIX THAT, OR WOULD IT BE REASONABLY ALRIGHT ON MY TIRES?
