Does anyone have any swap info on putting a RB25DET in a s13?  Do any of you already have an RB your cars?  If so, please tell me what I need to do, or get, and how difficult it was.  Also, if you know of any websites I can look at to find more info.

Yea. &nbsp;Definatly check out McKinney Motorsports. &nbsp;It is entirely possible, and if you are mechanically inclined, they sell (or are developing) do it yourself kits. &nbsp;Also, don't type in all capitals.

give him a break on the caps, if you don't like it, it seems to me to make more sense not wasting time responding.

Anyway, I too am looking for info on an RB swap.... but I was hoping for an extra .1 liter of displacement, hmm...

is this the mckinney motorsports in santee california? If it is I think I have left numerous emails with you guys and I have been freaking trying to call you non-stop but I dont ever think I have been able to get through once.

If you remember I came in about 1 month ago with a friend, I have the red 240 and I asked about the n1 dual, you guys were just closing. I am still intrested in getting it if I can ever get to talk to one of you guys.

afaik, it's not going to happen. The engine bay on a 240sx is just too small to fit the RB26 without some MAJOR mods. Please correct me if i'm wrong on that though.

RB26 is not too big to fit in the 240sx engine bay. They are the same, the RB25/RB26, with exception to RWD/AWD, 5spd/6spd trans., Single/Twin Turbo, and the head. That is the difference in the displacement between the RB25(2.5L) and RB26(2.6L) is the head. A .1 increase, by buying the gt-r head, would not be worth it IMO, if you wanted a bigger displacement increase than that then I'd say get a stroker kit.

The biggest fitment problem with an RB26 are the twin turbo's I hear. I have a RB20DET in my 240... takes a bit skill and research, but it's not that bad. I hope you like wires and solder... I personally like the RB20 vs. the RB25 due to the lower compression ratio. I may do a RB20/26 hybrid when the motor starts to go (or I just want to go bigger). It makes the motor about a 2.2-2.4L depending on the combo of parts that you use.

Changing the head doesn't change the displacement, simply changes the CR. To change displacement, you need to chage the bored (punch it out a little) or stroke (change crank). The RB26 head has a much better flowing head than the RB25, as well as a few other things that I can't remember.

I'm almost positive you can put it into an S13, why wouldn't it?, the biggest problem is that it has twin turbos as opposed to the RB25 single turbo, the twin turbos will be in the way of the steering column and you would have to get a shop to do some custom stuff in order for you to keep the steering wheel on the left side, unless you wanted to go for the full JDM feel and go right hand drive hehe. As far as the 25's single turbo setup goes, I haven't heard anything at all about custom steering work having to be done. Also I heard that the radiator (both 25 and 26) has fitting problems with the hood, but can fit. I'm going RB25 personally, less custom work which saves me money, and it's not like the 26 blows the 25 out of the water.

I don't know about the 25 so much... but my RB20 radiator fit just fine where the stock KA one was.

with questions for radiator fitment, the stock oem 240sx radiator will work just fine, and even if u go with any other motor swap, most upgrade to koyo, or aftermarket aluminum radiator anyways.

From what I hear the RB25 is really not that hard, so entirely doable. There is a guy on www.nissaninfiniticlub.com that has done the swap into his S13, and he stated it was no worse than trying to fit an SR20 in, you just use the front cross member from the skyline, and everything except the tranny mount fits right up (the tranny mount needs to be flipped from what I have heard) If you go over there the guys name is NightXCZ77, and there is an entire section dedicated to the RB swaps. Good luck on that, personally I think it is a far better choice than the SR.

The crank from the RB26 is DEFINATELY MUCH stronger than the RB25's. It's a common swap for RB25's. Also, the RB26 has a LARGE difference in performance to the RB26 and I know this cause I have an RB25. I mean you can get an RB25 to where an RB26 is easily, but you can easily go further with an RB26. You can get around 400-450 with just "boost-up" mods (intake, exhaust, boost controller, inter-cooler, plugs) with the RB26 where as the RB25 would only yield around 330.

I'm deffinitely not saying you're wrong, because I don't know, but I've never heard of gaining 120+hp on an RB26 with just "boost-up" mods.

Oh, and I forgot to include a tuned computer. Yes, you can get THAT much. The I don't remember the exact numbers but the stock boost level on the RB26 isn't even close to it's maximum limit.

Now we're getting somewhere hehe, yes I have heard of an upgraded computer which gives you 400ish, that must be with those other mods you were talking about. When I heard of the computer upgrade I wasn't sure if it was real but now that someone else has spoken of it, I do know now.


Before you said upgraded computer, I was think wtf that much extra hp off of those small mods?

Umm...I'm not exactly sure what you said, because I can't read type that is written in ALL CAPS. I'd imagine that you are mad because someone said not to type in all caps up above.

Well, if you want help in the future, you might want to not use caps. Caps hurts my eyes, and I ignore posts in all caps. Remember, you are asking for help here...so there isn't any need to make things more difficult to the people helping you than they already are.

Yeah, you'll need a front clip and most likely a few replacement parts. All of this plus shipping and install, going with the cheapest of everything that you need (considering everything with decent quality), I'd say $4500. I'm guessing that would be the cheapest, give or take, and it only goes up after that.

I personally like the RB20 vs. the RB25 due to the lower compression ratio. I may do a RB20/26 hybrid when the motor starts to go (or I just want to go bigger). It makes the motor about a 2.2-2.4L depending on the combo of parts that you use.
