cel code 37 closed loop
Just cruising then noticed that my check engine light came on. Did a self diagonistic test and codes read are 34 and 37. Changed knock sensor and clear codes and took for a test drive. Check engine light came back on after about 5 miles. Self diagnosed again and now only code 37 comes up which is for closed loop.
Drives normal to me. I already changed to a brand new CTS. Could it be one of my O2 sensor? 95 obd1 240sx ka24de bone stock engine and engine components. 185,000 miles on motor. Don't really know how much on O2 sensors. |

the ecu will use the references from the maf, cts, cas, tps, knock, and o2 to go into closed loop.
since the car's running ok and revving passed 3k, so that deduces the maf and cas outta there the cts and knock sensor are new so those are gone too, that leaves tps, o2 sensor, and ecu being the problem tps is easy to check, o2 sensor you could check the voltage on and see if it's within fsm range or reading anything, they're like 30 bucks if you just wanna put one on....text book life on an o2 is 100k, so if it's been that long since it's been replaced, it wouldn't be a bad idea anyways. i'd check the tps, and if it's good, slap a new o2 in there if the old one's old, then clear the code..... you know what, actually go to autozone or anywhere that has an obd2 reader that they'll tell you the codes. federal regulations required all car manufacturers to be obd2 compliant by 1996....however nissan made it happen early, and even though 95 s14's are "obd1" they still have obd2 ports. if you go on the passener side, and look behind the center part of the dash where the radio is, you'll see it. ^_^ so in the real world, if your car was at my shop, i'd hook up the Snapon Modis and monitor the datastream. then once it set the code, i'd check the freeze frame data..... sometimes you're only as good as your tools allow you to be. best of luck, sounds like you're on the right path Dave
