Is the o2 sensor absolutely needed?
When i use to run my power fc there was an option to disable the o2 sensor and i would just run with my wideband plugged in with no issues. my question now is i no longer hae a power fc can i still run with no o2 sensor. The reason i wasnt running one is cause i only have one o2 bung setup and currently have a wideband installed.

bad gas mileage. The only reason the power fc has the option to turn it off is because when you tune, you don't want the stock o2 to interfere while tuning.

ECU will operate in OPEN LOOP. It will not be able to monitor the quality of combustion, to make change in timing, and fuel trim. Poor MPG would be the biggest problem, as well as lack of power, exhaust smoke, oil contamination by fuel, glazing of cylinder, rich or poor AFR, carbon deposit in the engine. It all depend how long you drive without O2 sensor.
IMO, just put back your 02, buy another bung, and locate your wideband where it should be, about 6 to 12 inches in front of cat(or where it should be), at an downward angle of 15 degrees. Frank |

Also I'd recommend not running the wideband all the time. My LM-1 clearly states in the instructions to only run it for a little mostly for tuning because the heat from exhaust damages them and makes them unreliable. But that's up to you. They are a lot more sensitive than the stock O2 sensor and I'd just be careful with it since I spent 300$ on mine. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, PFCs have the option to not run the o2 sensor. That is only good if you have a full tune where they tuned for light throttle and not just WOT tune.
If you got rid of your PFC and running a stock ECU, how do you expect the ECU not to run the o2 sensor. Only way not to run it is by having somebody do a rom tune on that ECU and not run it. Depending on what Wideband you have, some of them will have an analog 5V feed back that you can wire into the stock o2 sensor wiring. This can be used by the ECU in order to run the car properly. |
