OK, I saw an engine that I'd never heard of today, an RB25DET, inline 6 with 250 hp. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of this engine or tried to put it in a 240. Also does anyone think a 2.5L V6 will fit in a 240. Thanks for any info.

Yup, we've heard of it and it has been put in 240's before, although the RB20DET seems to be more popular...a 2.0litre I6. BTW, these engines came out of nissan skylines from japan. Check out unstable-hybrids for more info.

ok guys who has done the rb25det swap in a 240.....and if possible what is the site.

I know unstable hybrids have done a rb20det swap....but they arent very forthcoming with info on how to do the swap...which is understandable since they do it for a living

The front mount needs to be moved forward a bit..cause the engine is longer. New mounts need to be fabricated and lots of people say that the turbo manifold won't clear the steering column? or hood? one of those. A few people say it'll upset the weight balance.....but it doesn't really seem like it's THAT much heavier than an auto KA.

These are just things i've picked up cause i was pretending to do that swap.

there is no problem with steering clearane with the RB25DET, its the RB26DETT that has that problem. I have seen a RB25DET in an s14 before, it fit fine. The only clearance issue was with the intake piping went over the top of the engine, which makes it contact the hood. This can be avoided by notching the hood support the it hits.

The weight balance won't be upset by much, I have actually looked at the numbers but I don't remember them off the top of my head. Using a lightweight hood and possibly moving the battery to the rear would help a lil bit.

yeah, I heard the weight was not much of a differance, get a carbon hood and such. And with the added power you will have it will be easy to do a bit of throttle steer to over come any weight issues you will encounter in a corner, if any.

i wouldnt mind a RB25DET in a 240, and hell, with a carbon Fiber hood and all the stereo equipment i have, it prolly would be fairly well balanced out

I have a 93 hatch thats in like perfect condition. A year ago my ka motor blew so the car has been garaged ever since and now I was going to put a S14 motor but I got a good deal and now i'm putting a RB25DET. I know that it's just about the same swap as an SR20DET the only difference is that 5 wires have to be connected. I think the RB25DET is the best choice.
