i dont need to buy one just helping my machine shop because they are going to buy me a brand new one because they cracked mine so why would i want a used one if i dont have to pay for it

NOP.
because FWD SR20DE have an extended bung on the dizzy side. and will have a very tight fit if you converted it to run inline. RWD SR on the other hand have that same bung but on the exhaust/driver side of the engine. Just look up the picture on google. You can tell the difference. If you think they can modify it to fit, why not. Also if they're paying for it. why not just buy one on Ebay or Nissan dealership that carry Nismo.

What timing cover? You mean front timing chain cover meaning oilpump too? If it is, they are RWD SR specific. You can make the FWD ones work but its not a bolt on affair.
