Big 28 setup!!
I am currently planning a setup with a big28 somwthing around 450whp and wanna run nismo side feed 740 so the question is :
Can i just compensate with the s-afc or really need to get a stand alone or a ecu retune? Can the s-afc compensate to that level? And if so until where? thanks JF |

If I were in your shoes, I would look at Jim Wolf technology. Give them a call or email and you either may need to send your ECU in or buy one of their cores specifically modded for your set-up.
You must get technically detailed with those folks and I feel they will take care of you "the right way" Their is no substitute for experience. He may even suggest things we don't know about. S-AFC will suck big time when you run that big injectors. I had a eclipe with 720 injectors and I could not make the car maintain idle with the AFC alone. Also you will not make 450WHP with the big28 turbo. Max maybe 350WHP, so get a bigger turbo if you are planning to run big numbers.

Look at atleast the t3/t4 for 400 hp and maybe something like a t67 or a td06 i think... heh Anything like that is almost unstreetable or not really that fun. You get pretty bad turbo lag so unless ur draggin its not useful. |

computer wise the best one out there is the Apexi Power FC it learns your engine and tunes accordingly. On the T28 you are not looking over 300hp though. you will need to run another turbo to get into the 450hp range something along the lines of a t3/t4 hybrid or a HKS GT3037 or a Greddy T67

go standalone, you wont regret it. SAFC is unsafe with that much fuel. also, forget JWT, they are a good shop but for a setup like yours you are gonna need some individual tuning. you will also need a bigger turbo to get anywhere near 450hp. have you done a rebuild? if not, dont intend for your engine to last long, if at all, at 450hp.

I am not talking about the t28 but the big 28 a custom build turbo by forced performance they proved it can make 395 rwhp and I'll modified it for more power for the internals don't know yet what to buy! the tomei 2.2 stroker kit looks interesting there is not any shops around here that has done a rebuilt on an ( usualy they blow them then buy new ones! ) so I don't know which company or setup to go with and no one to help me! So if you guy have some experience int the sr rebuilt plz help me.

If they don't know, then find somebody else to do the work. Obviously nobody here has heard of the "big28" we all just assumed that since it's bigger then the t-toosmall you meant the t-28. Sounds like you need to get hooked up with a shop that can build your car for you and knows what they are doing. Also, there are a lot more people with modified sr's on freshalloy.com

OK to clear things up a little bit I am talking about a sr in a coupe 240. The sr is in and running since about 4-5 month and now I need to push the sr more I do more drag thant anyhting else but wanna keep the car for other use track street and don't tell me you can't use a 400-350 hp car on the street plz. At first I hopped there was some way of using the s-afc to there but looks like not so I am probably turning to standalone E6k or P-FC cause i don't like the JWT ecu for many reasons... Any way the Big28 is a turbo made by http://www.forcedperformance.net/dsm_turbo_big28.htm Forced performance And I wanted them to modify the turbo already capable of 375 rwhp to give me more boost on high rpm to get closer to teh 450 range. And as I said previously the is a lot of ressources on freshalloy or shops on the web but nothing is the range of Montreal,Canada and to be honest peoples around here are not really used to push the sr and I don't want the to try what they think is good on mine so I am trying to gather the more info I can.

We aren't saying 400hp can't be driven on the street. Just keep in mind that a small displacement motor making a lot of power really can only do it at high rpms. That type of setup you generally look at a lot of turbo lag. Now, looking at this turbo from my "I really don't know a whole lot about turbos" perspective, it is taking a small turbo, modifying it with bigger guts for the main purpose of passing as stock. Beyond that, a quick spooling turbo. Generally from what I see, you have small quick spooling turbos that produce OK power, and big slow spooling turbos that can produce a lot. That seems tob e what's making us wary on this HP claim.
Back on topic. AFCs are basically able to vary fuel going into your engine a certain percent. The s-AFC I recall reading varied that value up to 50% (correct me if I'm wrong). I could see this working OK with the next size up (550cc?), but you are tuning at the very edge of it's capabilities with 740s.
