Stupid Question
Are subframe Spacers the same as bushings? I have alot of wheel hop, see, and I'm replacing the shocks/struts with coilovers since they're probably what's causing the hop. See, I'm wondering if I should get subframe spacers while I'm at it since I've heard they can also help with wheel hop and it's seems the terms "spacers" and "bushings" are interchangeable.

Most of the time when you hear people talk about spacers they usually mean a solid metal type spacer that is used in conjunction with the stock bushing. (Example) The spacer stacked on the existing bushing will compress it and make it stiffer. Likewise when people talk about aftermarket bushings they usually mean the Whiteline spacers (or something similar) that are made of polyurethane and can be placed in strategic locations for desired results. (PDM carries them ). There are aftermarket bushings out there but mostly they are aluminum replacements rather than bushings.(SPL makes some ) Great for racing but pretty hard for the street. I have not come across any polyurethane or similar bushings for the subframe.
Hope this helps. Ryan Last edited by Tubed4evr; 01-01-2004 at 08:04 PM.. |
