idle on sr

is there any way to adjust the idle on a red top sr20? I idle at about 1100, and I want it lower; or is this a good idle speed?

the idle control valve is adjusted by a screw that can be accessed between the intake runners on the left hand side of the engine. it's a plastic screw...look for it. loosen to raise idle, tighten to lower it. there's more to it than that though...search.

Go thru the set timing process, verify the timing is correct... IACValve would be a last resort wouldnt it? Becuase you also have the throttle body adjustment

timing, yes.

but the IACV is the proper method for setting idle. the throttle body should be CLOSED at idle. that's the whole point of the IACV...it takes air and routes it AROUND the throttle plate.
