![]() what's up guys. before i start this project i want to see what im getting myself into.
i have a 95 S14 with a S13 SR and i have a 97 S14 bone stock. i want to swap the stock KA out of the Kouki and put it in my zenki so i can build up the SR and put it in the Kouki. since the Zenki is OBDI, what kinda problems will i run into and is there a thread thats done this that will help me? i tried search option but everything i search something i get a error. help me make this happen. |

ok since no one can answer that. how about this:
if i swap the motor and use a ZENKI (95-96) ECU with the 97 OBDII motor, would that work without a check engine light? my main concern is the CEL cause i want it to be a perfectly smog legal car. not planning on modding this one. someones got to know this. |

I might be wrong, but im pretty sure a 95+ is OBDII.
Regardless, your going to have to pair up the ECU with the correct production date. 95 = Different ECU 96 = Different ECU 96 = Different ECU So your going to have to find the right ecu for whatever your KA is out of or your going to get a CEL. |

I just wanna get this straight you are trying to convert the 95 back to a KA and have it smog legal right? The '97 is going to eventually get the sr.
IMO your best bet would be to swap the '97 Ka, engine harness and ecu to the '95 if you want to pass emissions. There are subtle differences between the '95, '96, and '97/98 harnesses and ecu's keeping them all matching the engine would be your best bet. I am not sure how smog will react to the ecu not matching the car year but mabye your '95 does not have an OBD port and they will not scan it. There are some '95s that are OBDI and there are some that are OBDII, its a transition year, wierd. Frankly, you are better off keeping the kouki as your smoggable car. If you want the kouki look, swap body panels.
