my 240 smokes
alright so I have no idea where this smoke is coming from, its a white colored smoke that is coming out the exhaust. It will only come out though when I have been driving and then let it sit for a minute, and then rev the motor or start to go.It blows white smoke out and seems to be more the longer it sits,Ive checked the oil and the level hasnt moved but and is on the curve which im pretty sure is too much, but any help would be appreciated.

when u check the oil is it milky as in it looks as if coolant is mixed in if it is then it might be the head gasket, also what motor is this if the motor is turbo the seals might be bad.

check valve cover breather and see if smoke comes from there and also if its not going down and no coolent then it could be valve stem seals

its most likley the valve seals, nissan used crappy rubber for then and it wears out and causes the car to smoke. Pain in the ass to replace but relatively cheap.

White smoke is caused by coolant, and only coolant. If the smoke was slightly blueish then that would be oil. Sounds to me like you have a bad headgasket, or, less likely, a cracked head. Watch your coolant levels, and check for milky oil as stated above.

NOOBIES LISTEN UP
White smoke = coolant Blue smoke = oil Black smoke = fuel, and maybe oil and coolant ALSO, the smell tells you what it is. sweet = coolant oil usually smells..well like burnt oil fuel usually smells like burnt fuel holy crap noobism in this thread. If you don't know the basics, don't comment.

If you are taking the head off, you may want to consider a mild port and polish and different cams. But thats if you plan on building up this engine or not. If you go bigger cams, you'll probably have to adjust timing anyway. but no, there is nothing else you really need to do. But make sure you don't get any debris inside the engine, when you clean the surface of both the head and block. Cheers. Have fun doing the most annoying job on cars.

how mild? if you are looking for anything over 250hp, you will want an o2 gauge and a good tune.
valve seals are not necessary if its not leaking oil into the piston chamber. But yeah, its only a few bucks to change them, so its up to you and if you have the ability to keep track of your buckets, shims and springs and such when you dismantle the head.
