I set my SR on its oil pan

Hey guys,

I set my Sr on its pan... I am wondering if I will be able to tell by looking at it whether or not it is dented in too much for the oil pickup to clear adequately. Any know how easy it is to dent them? Do you have to drop it, or just put some weight on it?

Joey

Did you have to? Was their not another way?

I would not trust it without making sure it did not deform. It is very tight in there. Could spell trouble. Not a move I would want to perform.

For petes sake, pull the pan and take a look and measure.

Next thing..Yes gasket seal is fine for putting the pan back on.

Nice pitcure of the cars and clip. You got a hoist and engine stand right?

Well, I decided that about 20 minutes could save me a spun bearing so I pulled it, it was fine. I pounded it out just a little to be safe though. So now my oil capacity is up a .05 of a quart! lol

Thanks for the info. I am going to go search for the torque specs.

PS: nope. No engine stand. Hoist though! (I love the 1.5 SXs pic too! thanks)

Joey

EDIT: Torqued and done 12-14 lbs.

My SR sat on its oil pan for a month, its fine. I know many people who store their SR's sitting on the floor like that, its fine. The oil pan is durable enough to withstand holding up the motor, but I wouldnt go further than that.

I would not worry about it.
