Talking Ronins Battery Relocation Walkthrough!

Ok, I finally recieved my wiring kit and im ready to do my battery relocation project. seeing as how i didn't want to wait unitl my next day off (which is tuesday) i just decided to do it tonight in the dark in my garage... here we go.

Step 1: Remove the battery.

Pretty straight forward the posts are 10mm iirc. Just unbolt then unscrew the batt hold thingy wich is 10mm too. yank the battery, carful not to get any acid on ya!

will look like this when you are done.

Step 2: Prepare wiring.

I like installs to be clean so i opted to get a distribution block so that i wouldnt have to have an ugly mess of wires when i joined my new power to the old ones that used to be on the battery. I went with a lightning audio one that had 2 1/0 gauge inputs and 3 8 gauge inputs. worked like a dream and made everything look soo nice. ignore the zipties

Feel free to ooohhh and ahhhh at it!

Step 3: Mounting the battery in the trunk

I chose to mount it on the drivers side due to the fact that it has a perfect spot for it, and i still got to retain the use of my spare tire! Installation is pretty straightforward. I got my box from Walmart for 6 bucks!

P.S. i finally found a use for those subframe bushings that noone wants to buy off me!

Step 4: Wiring the car

I found a nice grommet right above my gas pedal that was just the right size for my 2 gauge wire. I ran the wire under the carpet along the driver side and you cant see a single hint of wiring if you are looking close... im that good!

Step 5: Finishing her up

I have read that it is wise to fuse the wire just for safety purposes. Well i went a step further. I just went ahead and bought a phoenix gold 100amp circuit breaker with kill switch. now i wont have to buy expensive fuses everytime i decide to blow one! i found a nice grounding spot that the factory uses for the rear lights and just grounded to that. I ran the wire under the carpet for that oohh soo clean look. Enjoy!

I havent really gotten a chance to really drive her and test out the new weight distribution, but im happy with the end result of a cleaner engine bay. Please feel free to post any criticisms and or concerns. Thank you for your time. Ronin

Check this out..BTW, great job Man!

Where thw old batt was, you plan to do a intake there?

I would at least get that rusty platform out of there, sand, prime and repaint the ara. What cha plan on putting there?

I am scared to see how mine looks under there

Believe it or not, heat and all, on my old mazda truck, I relocated the battery under the camper shell, and put my AMP there and it never overheated or gave a problem and that Precision Power amp still works just fine.

Good Job Man...just curious what you going to do with the space...is all.

man everything looks great. i think i might do this next week before autocross. The only thing different is that I would have put the battery on the passenger side. but good job.
