s13 suspension on a budget

ok heres the deal. i want to get sport springs for my car, top of the line would be nice... i would love to get some high performance shocks to go with it. but im poor. dirt ass poor, im talking college student poor. i know everyone says you get what you pay for, and its best to get top of the line yada yada yada, but your talking to the guy who sees no difference in a cheep glass pack and an n1... anyway. i want to know if i were to get a set of lets say, not cheep. but not top of the line lowering springs, and front and rear strut bars, how much of a difference would i see? i don't race or go to autox, but i want to eventually. i live on a back country road that mabey 20 cars go up and down the entire day, were talking 24 hr period. its like a course right to GranTurismo. thats what i let lose on. i want my car to be more fun to drive. how much bang will that setup get me for my buck?
thanks for any feedback.

Don't waste your time buying strut bars before buying struts. If you get nice springs on stock shocks, you're going to blow the struts and have to by them anyways. Just save up until you can afford struts and springs. You can even buy the stuff used if it's in good condition to save some cash.

If you're going to autox eventually, save up your money for the good stuff. You'll save more money in the long run. Good things come to those who wait.

but my car has seen very little abuse. the stock struts cant be but in so bad of shape, the car only has 40k on it, and the previous and original owner was man in his 60s who hardly ever drove it and never drove it hard.... also. i know lots of people who run springs on stock struts.... what makes you think they would blow out? god i hate being poor.

Wow a 93 with only 40K miles. Pretty damn good. But you also have to think that your car is 10yrs old no matter how you look at it and in 93 I can only guess that aftermarket springs weren't on the nissan engineers minds when they design the struts for your s13. I have only heard about stock struts blowing and never the other way around.

good luck on your search and keep a close eye on ebay. I got four intrax springs and two tokico blues for $75...damn good deal if you ask me and I am pretty confident in the quality of my purchase.

I think of Tokico blues as more of a stock replacement. Are they better than stock? well.. it depends on the application, they are a little on the stiff side, however they can handle lowered springs a little better than stock. If you want good suspension, save for some Koni Yellows, and if you can't afford coils, which is the case for most people, go with eibachs. I drove a car with Intrax and I didn't really like the ride as much as I did when driving a car with the pro-kit, maybe it was the shocks, they were KYB GR-2, another stock replacement....
