search it yourself

we do it.. but we're in the bay area. we've wrapped a few cars in matte black. depending on car size and what not price will vary.. usually in the thousands for a full car wrap... you can just wipe everything off.. no need to wash your car

from what i've seen, it can be done pretty cheap, but depending on the color the imperfections can be obvious. Doing it yourself would be cheaper, but if wont cover certain things. As far as getting it done professionally, seriously you might as well paint it since the prices seem pretty close to a decent paint job. I'm referring to the 1-2k wrap.

u can buy your own vinnly...enough for a whole car for a couple hundred dollars and wrap it yourself. u will be able to see the seems and it will probably look like shit on any non flat surface, but your car will be sparkly... which is the most important thing.

What Nate is talking about is 100.00 shipped for all the materials you would need. Not a couple hundred.

Materials is not where the expense is (unless you have the vinyl printed), it's the labor. People with exotic cars pay $2k+ for vinyl wrap color changes because it's reversible, and protects the OEM paint underneath.
If you were to do it yourself, make sure the car is cleaned and waxed, and go to town. The metallic colors are a lot tougher to make look right since they don't stretch nearly as much as the non-metallic, FYI.

the hardest part would possibly be the vents in the bumper.

there is a whole thread on here with tons of pics. search for something like "vinyl wrapped drift car".... I tried it, it is a huge pain in the ass. And the whole comment about it being reversable, I would say it is to some extent, but be prepared to spend hours removing it and then several more hours getting the sticky resin off.
Search on ebay for the giant rolls of glitter material. |

The ebay vinyl is different then a vinyl wrap.
Ebay vinyl is dirt cheap. cheap quality and goes on like shit. And absolutely doesnt come off at all. A vinyl wrap will cost you over a grand, come off no problem, go on perfect and is done by professionals. Unless you have a real good reason for the shitty ebay vinyl wrap, i would get some cheap paint done for under a grand. Or use the rustoleum with a touch of mineral spirits and a harbor freight gun and throw on a couple coats of paint yourself and wet sand out the orange peel, let it sit a week, and buff the shit out that thing. my 2 cents |

stickercity.com is one place...if you dont want crap, buy oracal or 3m brand...itll run you between 400-600 for enough to wrap a whole car in quality vinyl...
the great thing about vinyl is that you can remove it and change the color, its light weight, it will color match if you damage a panel and have to replace it, and the good stuff holds up against rock chips better than paint... |

I found a local shop here in El Cajon that will do a partial for $500 installed
By partial, i mean that they will print two 26" x 120" decals and install them for you. I am working on my artwork for it at the moment. This fits the bill for me, as i am on a budget like most here, and need to make the most of my money. |

I did this a few years ago on my old vert. I got it from an ebay store http://myworld.ebay.com/paperstreetp...MEFSX:SELLERID I took my time doing every panel seperate with heat too some what hide the bubbles and wrinkles.lol it looked pretty cool but I wouldnt recomend it nor would I do it ever again. Installation and removal is a bitch!!! Just do a maaco job if your funds are tight or if its a track car.
R.I.P I kinda miss it actualy. ![]() |
