s14 hks drag coil overs really bouncy!!

Hi all,I bought these coil overs used, they are hks drag coil overs,I installed them the way i got them my car is super low.The front is bouncy as hell the rear feels pretty stiff.I already adjusted the knob on the bottom,Do i need tie rods or any other suspension work to make my s14 a comfortable ride.I'm also riding on stockers with 205/50r 16.I really want to set my car up for drift at this point i don't know what to do,i don't have money for a new set and i dont think the fronts are blown?ANY INPUT WOULD HELP PLEASE!!!

If it is bouncy and the stiffening adjustment didn't fix it....they're blown. Sorry to hear it. The reason it bounces is because the car is not having bumps DAMPENED by the damper so the bouncy motion comes from the springs....Toe arms/etc. have nothing to do with bounciness

coilovers are a bit different...my friend bought used coils and they just had the springs compressed really tight inbetween the collars.

usually when coilovers are blown they leak and u will hear a loud thumping sound

so your spring load may be off

well first off drag coils weren't made to be stiff at all. put the damping to zero on the front coils and compress them. if they dont rebound then they are most likely blown.

Normally when something like that is blown you can see oil on the outside of the housing.

If you don't see any oil but still question if they are good you can take them off the car... loosen the collars so the springs are loose with a bit of gap, stand them up and press down on the top hat. It should have resistance going down and slowly come back up when you take your hand away. If there is no resistance coming from the shock they are blown.

Not having dust boots can blow the seals fairly quick if you live in a dusty area.

Having worn out or poly bushings in the LCAs/uprights can cause a bumpy ride as well

Also check the bushings on the rear shocks.

If you decide to get new ones PBM or Fortune Auto are decent choices.

If you have them super low and you use the spring collar to lower the car, it means you stiffen the spring to a point where it overpower the shock, hence the bounciness of your car.

Raise your car, set the damping to the middle and then think it out yourself which is a better setting.

This. Sounds like the spring preload may be off.

Didn't know people still preloaded springs... If that's the case I'd loosen those bitches up asap on top of checking for blown dampners

Fuck Cusco...most Cusco shit are single tap coilovers.

Save the money and get NEW $1k coilovers. Most $1k-1.2K coilovers in the market now are decent, just search and see whats the new fad of the month.

Powered by max. They have 2 different ones now. The Pro are $1500 and the competition are $1000. I have heard all awesomeness about them. I am going to sell my Tein's and pick up the pro's.

cusco is good but don't bother with then. tein's are overpriced. kei office is done with and is now DG5.

look into fortune auto's and stance.

Drag Coilovers are Super Soft, If you want something stiff just sell them off and buy a proper pair of coilovers, wouldnt bother playing around with them.. Most likely the springs themself are Soft in comparison to other brands which are 10/8 8/6, they could be 4/2 or maybe even lower?
