Arrow s14 jdm smart entrance control unit???

im thinking its the smart entrance control unit, but im not sure.

its on my 95 s14 rhd

*sorry for the crappy pic

my questions are:

IS it the smart entrance control unit?

as you can see, it has three connectors..

1. is like the ecu connector (has the press down locking clip thing)
1. is like the jdm dcc connector (black)
1. is just a single wire clip

and the following questions are:

if i take it off, will the car still work properly and not blow up or something? lol

from what ive read, it controls the keyless entry system, the power locks, and the key buzzer sound.

or can someone tell me exactly what it is ill be loosing if i remove that component?

here are some numbers on the part im talking about in case someones got a parts number list

on the wires coming from the box:
h0562-65f25
k15010 65f00

on the silver box:
h0581-65f25

behind the silver box has a smaller box thing:
b8590-65f25

and my under dash harness is:
2401065f04

found this online pdf file about the electrical components of the s14 (pretty much the electronics section of the service manual)

http://www.240edge.com/manuals/98_240sx/el.pdf

says that the smart entrance control unit controls:

warning buzzer
rear window defogger
power door lock
multi-remote control system
theft warning system

i guess i can live without the power door lock option...oh well, away with the smart control unit

if anyone has some input on why i shouldnt take it off, or something post it up. thanks

Thanks for bringing the smart control unit to my attention in this 2 year old thread. If I ever pick up an S14 I'll make sure to leave it in for rear defrosters.
