Digital Spedometer on S13

Hey everyone,
My buddy just bought a 89 coupe but the only problem with the car is the spedo. Its the digital one with hud but nothing works. All the warning lights, Tach turn on and work fine but the dash lights nor the Spedo will not. It seems there is no power geting out of the dimmer swich and I could not get any conductivity out of it either. I have searched for this problem a few places and couldn't get any direction. All the fuses are good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jim

It could be the soldering.......but I would reccomend 240sx.org FAQ and you might find something under HUD or dashlights ect.......its a good site with some good info. Sorry I don't know exactly what to tell you, I have the HUD and it works wonderfully but I have heard they are faulty so you should find some good tips on here using the search or on 240sx.org GooD luck

the conections get bad after awhile, they crack and break, or they chorode, you can try to fix but most just switch over to a regular cluster

a dash and cluster, or if you dont mind the heads up unit on the dash, it should jsut be to plug in a new cluster. the digital cluster is nicer cause the speedo goes up to 199 i think, but i dont know that any one has learned how to wire it with out the heads up part.
you could also try to take it apart and find the bad connection but thats completely up to you
