s13 Running Rough

Alright so i bought my 89 240sx a few months ago and it has always been running rough. it doesnt start all of the time and it idles rough (normally around 1250rpm-2000rpm). when you rev the engine it sputters and sounds like it is about to stall. now i was just gunna forget about fixing this motor and just rebuild the ka24de i have in my garage but the parts will be awhile till they r available.

Does anyone have an idea on what would cause this issue?

Not sure if this matters at all but whenever i disconnect the MAF it idles normal but stalls when ever i try going anywhere.

Thanks for the help

You had the answer from the begining when u said it idles normal with the maf disconnected. MAF is no good, its idles ok because the computer is pre programmed to know how much air is coming in at idle and the amount of fuel to use, but once u open the throttle it no longer knows how much gas to add so it quickly dumps fuel cause the car to stall. Also check for intake leaks after the MAF sensor. But if you have no leaks then the sensor is garbage. Cleaning them only works 50% of the time.

Alright kool. Then I guess it is time for a new MAF and hopefully I can get the car running for awhile till the rebuild parts are available.
