Help with works bell hub... kind of embarrassing.

ok so i just upgraded from an NRG hub to a works bell... easy right? well i'm having some trouble.

1. i cant get the hub to sit all the way down onto the steering column/consolle/shroud dealy... normal? i'm not sure.

2. do i need to use those two little metal rods they give me with it? if so what are they for? i cant see any use for them....

this is on an S13. i used the little arrow they have to mark what should be the top. but maybe i have it cocked one tooth off or something? its hard to tell since i cant drive the car at the moment. the NRG was very simple, just bolted right on with no problems, everything worked fine.

The metal rods go on the back of the hub. You have to pretty much use a hammer to tap them into place.

They are used for the turn signal return function, for when you have completed the turn and when you're returning the steering wheel to the straight position, those rods catch the plastic arms that stick out after you've activated the turn signal, and it cancels them.

As for not seating all the way, I have the same problem too, although I thought it was just me.

Basically, it seems the hub doesn't seat all the way down on the steering shaft, so when you bolt everything back up, the back of the hub don't touch the metal rods sticking out of the steering column, thus no horn or anything.

Same thing with me.

Think I had the same problem with the HKB hub that I previously had too.

the hub should mount all the way down then adjust the black trim to the correct spot(close but not touching). the metal tab things are for the horn if that is what you are talking about. need pics to clarify.

Look for the holes on the column and go from there. The hub should slip in all the way--just give it a good jiggle. My cheapy NRG short hub went all the way (and now I probably can't pull it out heh), so a nice Works hub should fit flush. There's no reason the horn shouldn't work, other than a faulty install.

Have the same problem, not to bring back from the dead but you just need a longer shroud.
