Draining the Gas Tank
my 240 i just bought is going to be a long term project of mine, and it will be sitting for a long time(months at least). there is half a tank of gas in it, and i dont want that to go to waste with gas prices this high. im looking for a way to get the gas out of the tank. i tried pulling the hose off of the filter and turning the key on, but that wouldnt work. i think that was the result of me removing the fuel rail and wiring harness. so can i syphon it out, or hotwire the fuel pump?

man. this reminds me of the time when my lil bros integra got totaled. he had like a full tank of premium gas in there that he just filled up befoer some stupid ass lady ran a red light and totaled his car. anyways.. we tried everything getting that gas out. dont try to use the tube/tank/mint method. i tried suckin that shit and all i sucked in was nasty gas fumes messing up my healthy lungs...

i attempted to syphon my tank last night, but it didn't really work..does the other end of the hose have to be in the liquid part of the gas? mine wasn't wet on the tip when i pulled it out, but i did get A LOT of fumes heh.

eyah it has to be in the liquid. there is sort of a bend in the tube, so you have to wiggle the hose down in there. it took me a few minutes to get her in there. after that use something to aply vazcume to the end of the hose, or suck on it. if you suck on it dont suck til gas gets in your mouth.

I was thinking..it could work if you just disconnected your fuel hose at the engine bay side and directed it at a bucket while someone cranked the car (disconnect your SP wires first..). I don't know if your battery would die before the gas gets drained, but it's just a thought (I've tried draining my tank with a siphon before, to no luck. I couldn't get the tube down there).
